If you have zeros, please be sure to attend ZAP on the designated Saturdays

Why do I need to go to ZAP?
You have one or more zeros.
Remember, that ZAP is a privilege and an opportunity. You don't have to go. You are welcome to keep your zeros if you can't manage to comply or follow directions.

Why do I have zeros?
You neglected to do your work, turn in your work, write your name on your work, or you neglected to come see me in tutorials within the grace period after your absence (see syllabus).

How do I get my missing work?
- All work may be found on my website: http://hydeenglish7.wikispaces.com/4th+9+Weeks
- Collecting your missing work and getting your missing work done is your responsibility.
- On your IPR, your zero will have a due date and a title associated with it. You will find the assignment on or closely around the same date on the website. The assignment titles and dates on your IPR directly correlate with the website. Exception: Because homework is usually assigned the day before it is due, you will find the assignment located on the previous day. Example: If SB 145-146 was due on 9/6. You would find it under “Homework” on 9/5. Just look for the same title.

Options:
1. If you have the work already done, bring it with you to ZAP, give it to the teacher, and just bring a book to read.
2. If you still have the unfinished assignment, bring it with you to ZAP, complete the assignment, and then give it to the teacher.
3. If you don’t have the assignment…
  • you may bring your iPad and your progress report (IPR) to ZAP with you, neu.annotate the work, and then email it back to me during ZAP (preferred and smarter method).
  • you may print out your missing work before ZAP, take it to ZAP with you to do, and turn it in to the ZAP teacher.
  • you may go through the “Extra Copies of Stuff” drawer in my classroom to see if you can find extra copies of your missing assignments in there to take to ZAP with you, complete, and turn in to the ZAP teacher.
4. If you are iPadless or if you have a documented accommodation or modification where you can't do your work on an iPad, please submit a written request of what you need on or before the Thursday before ZAP. I will not print or collect work for you during class time or at the last minute.
5. If you need something from the classroom such as your Warm-up Notebook or your Reading Journal, be sure to grab it on Friday and turn it in to the ZAP teacher. If you are making up something from your Sadlier Workbook, be sure to bring it with you to ZAP and turn your workbook in to the ZAP teacher.
- All ZAP work must be turned in to the ZAP teacher or emailed to me during ZAP hours from the ZAP classroom. Attendance is taken at ZAP and placed in the teachers’ boxes on the following Monday.

What do I need to bring with me to ZAP?
Actually, all you need to bring with you is your IPR (detailed progress report that I give you the Wednesday before every ZAP) and your iPad. All work can be done in neu.annotate and emailed to me.

What happens if I don’t go to ZAP?
Your zeros will stay zeros and you will miss out on the 9 weeks’ incentive.

How do I prevent this from happening again in the future?
- Sign up for TxConnect to stay informed about your own education and progress;
It’s not just for parents.
- Be sure to see your teachers during tutorials after you have been absent ASAP.
- Check in often with your teachers during tutorials, even if it is just to say, “Hi.”
- Stay informed with your teachers’ websites or iTunesU pages.
- Email your teachers using your school email address.
- Above all, accept responsibility for your education.
